Translation of Proteomics Biomarkers
into Clinical Practice
for Ovarian and Prostate Cancer
Daniel W. Chan, Ph.D., DABCC, FACB.
Professor of Pathology, Oncology, Radiology and Urology, Director
of Clinical Chemistry Division, Johns Hopkins University.
There are fewer than 2 dozens tumor markers in serum/urine cleared/approved
by the US FDA for clinical use, therefore, additional tumor markers
are urgently needed. We have assembled a team of clinical and research
scientists to develop, validate and translate potential cancer biomarkers
into clinical practice using mass spectrometry-based glycoproteomics
and/or protein/lectin microarray approaches. My presentation will
focus on two important type of cancer ovarian and prostate.
Clinical case studies and new cancer biomarkers will be discussed.
